24 teachers attended the workshop with 6 Intermediate teachers learning and playing with ideas about the weekly graph and 18 primary teachers playing basic facts games using Trevor Caulkins power of 10 cards. Teachers were able to think about scaffolding for learning so that ,depending on ability then grade level different students had the capacity for different levels of learning. When playing with the cards students need to begin with fast recognition of 1-5 before moving on to 6-10 and so on. The room was abuzz with conversation as we passed around a 'virtual' head on an ipad so that a rural participant could participate using Skype.
